Portfolio Assignments: Senior students in Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design must utilize the accumulation of their artistic skills, knowledge, and class time in filling the requirements of their concentration portfolio pieces. It is required that eight (8) portfolio pieces of your concentration be completed by May 5, 2023. With each portfolio assignment three thumbnail drawings and one color or black and white rough drawing will be required prior to the start of the finished portfolio piece and for each one of your eight (8) portfolio assignments. You will be graded on the five criteria listed above. The names of you specific assignments will not appear on Genesis. Your project grades will be entered as Portfolio Assignments 1-8 because each senior may be doing different subject matter for their portfolio assignments at different times. The specifics of your portfolio projects must be communicated to the instructor through Google Classroom and/or email. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to complete the required EIGHT (8) portfolio pieces so you must pace yourself. The dates listed below are all hard deadlines. Be aware that on average you must approximately complete: three (3) thumbnail concepts, one (1) rough color or black and white drawing, one (1) final finished portfolio piece per month from September to May. Eight (8) fully finished concentration pieces are needed to complete your portfolio. It is important to keep in mind seniors must also create and maintain an electronic/digital website/portfolio of their work for college and/or professional purposes.
If you currently have a job or would like to get a job and go out on CVE (work study) program 100% of the time, you may do so. You would no longer come to class of be required to do any of the portfolio assignments once you are approved for CVE for the remainder of the year. Student who work on CVE and are less than 100% will still be required to complete all of the assigned portfolio assignments and other work as listed in your syllabus. You would still have to hand in your Financial Literacy packet and take the end of course NOCTI exam in June but that would be all that would be required of you for Multimedia, Art & Digital Design for the 2022-2023 school year. You would receive your grade from your CVE coordinator. If you wish to go out on CVE 100% of the time you may do so by contacting our CVE coordinator:

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's earliest roots date back to 1866 in Paris, France, when a group of Americans agreed to create a "national institution and gallery of art" to bring art and art education to the American people. The lawyer John Jay, who proposed the idea, swiftly moved forward with the project upon his return to the United States from France. Under Jay's presidency, the Union League Club in New York rallied civic leaders, businessmen, artists, art collectors, and philanthropists to the cause. On April 13, 1870, The Metropolitan Museum of Art was incorporated, opening to the public in the Dodworth Building at 681 Fifth Avenue. On November 20 of that same year, the Museum acquired its first object, a Roman sarcophagus. In 1871, 174 European paintings, including works by Anthony van Dyck, Nicolas Poussin, and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, entered the collection.
Michelangelo: Divine Draftsman and Designer
Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475–1564), a towering genius in the history of Western art, is the subject of this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition. During his long life, Michelangelo was celebrated for the excellence of his disegno, the power of drawing and invention that provided the foundation for all the arts. For his mastery of drawing, design, sculpture, painting, and architecture, he was called Il Divino ("the divine one") by his contemporaries. His powerful imagery and dazzling technical virtuosity transported viewers and imbued all of his works with a staggering force that continues to enthrall us today.
This exhibition presents a stunning range and number of works by the artist: 133 of his drawings, three of his marble sculptures, his earliest painting, his wood architectural model for a chapel vault, as well as a substantial body of complementary works by other artists for comparison and context. Among the extraordinary international loans are the complete series of masterpiece drawings he created for his friend Tommaso de' Cavalieri and a monumental cartoon for his last fresco in the Vatican Palace. Selected from 50 public and private collections in the United States and Europe, the exhibition examines Michelangelo's rich legacy as a supreme draftsman and designer.
#MetMichelangelo
Accompanied by a catalogue by the organizing curator of the exhibition, Carmen C. Bambach—an authoritative volume that examines the Renaissance master as "the divine draftsman and designer" whose work, according to Giorgio Vasari, embodied the unity of the arts.
