Q: Why is the Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design Team Name for the MCVTS 2021 Career & Tech Expo called The School of Athens?
A: Because it represents our version of Raphael's vision of the greatest minds and disciplines in all of human history being visually represented as the greatest artistic minds of the Renaissance all in one place. This is the goal of our Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design 2021 Career & Tech Expo project. You all, were the chosen students to be members of The Digital Atelier Team. You all are as diverse as those represented by Raphael himself. You were selected because you represent the very best qualities as Multimedia, Art & Digital Design students. You are all strong and reliable student leaders from diverse grade levels who are charged to go out and find the best, most influential, famous, and greatest artists and artistic industries out there and interview them so we can put all your presentations here in one place like Raphael's The School of Athens only with a 21st century twist!
Q: Why is the Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design Project Name for the MCVTS 2021 Career & Tech Expo called The Digital Atelier?
A: Because an atelier (French: [atəlje]) is the private workshop or studio of a professional artist in the fine or decorative arts where a principal master and a number of assistants, students, and apprentices can work together producing fine art or visual art released under the master's name or supervision. We are going out there and finding creative masters of the digital age, artists and workshops of the 21st century to highlight for our 2021 MCVTS Career & Tech Expo Presentation!
Q: Mr. Tiedemann as the chosen Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design 2021 Career Major & Tech Expo elite team what do you want us to do?
A: I want you to be tenacious and find the best of the best professional artists and creative industry leaders! I want you to cast a wide net and try and contact the most famous, high profile, industry leading, important, influential, and hottest artists, creatives, and/or industries out there. Don't be afraid or intimidated to email, call, and/or contact famous or high profile creative leaders or artists. You may get a lot of rejections or unanswered emails or phone calls but never give up! Most of the time they will be very happy to speak with you.
Q: Why can’t we tell or know the other members of the Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design 2021 Career Major & Tech Expo Team, what’s the big secret?
A: You can't tell and don't know who or how many Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design 2021 Career Major & Tech Expo team members there are because I want you all to compete as professionals as you would out in the real world! I want you all to work independently at first and go after the most famous, high profile, industry leading, important, influential, and hottest artists, creatives, and/or industries out there! Let's do the best we possibly can and shoot to win the first prize trophy this year! Keep this first part of the project to yourself and don't give away your advantage at this initial stage. Who knows, your best friend in class may also be a secret Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design 2021 Career Major & Tech Expo team member. Professional discreetness is also a valuable skill you will need to learn and utilize out in the professional world. It is important to know when to speak and disclose your ideas and thoughts in a professional setting as well as who to speak to and cooperate with to achieve your goals.
Shoot for the very best! Focus on the most famous, high profile, industry leading, important, influential, and hottest artists, creatives, and/or industries out there like: visual artists (traditional & digital), famous actors (stage & screen), designers, fashion icons, special effects people, fashion designers, video game developers, graphic artists, museum personnel (from famous museums and their various art department employees from around the world), restoration artists, forensic artists, film directors, toy makers, comic book companies, movie studios, ect... Don't be afraid or intimidated to email, call, and/or contact famous or high profile people or companies like those below. Most of the time they will be very happy to speak with you especially if you are a student doing a project like this. Below are a few examples of creative artists and industries I would like you to consider but they are not the only ones. Explore and come up with some of your own. Try and land “THE BIGGEST FISH” you can:
Q: What will the end result of our Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design 2021 Career Major & Tech Expo Presentation look like?
A: We will edit a collective video presentation from each Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design team member presenter who must make a meaningful pre-recorded portion for the whole of the presentation (Each team member's presentation needs to be four (4) minutes or greater but less than then eight (8) minutes (not including question time if we do a live Q and A with the judges) You will put together your own part of the presentation 4-8 minutes with all supporting materials and research included in that timeframe as part of your video. So your portion should include video snippets of your "BIG FISH" individual or industry, slides, graphics, diagrams, models, ect... if necessary to support your research portion of you target person or industry.
Q: How do I approach my most famous, high profile, industry leading, important, influential, and hottest artists, creative, and/or industry professional and get them to agree to be interviewed by me? What should I say to them in an email or phone call?
A: The truth! Tell them you are a high school student in the Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design career major which is part of the School of the Arts Program at Middlesex County Vocational & Technical Schools East Brunswick Campus. Explain we do a MCVTS Career & Tech Expo every year and compete with all five of our campuses for the best presentation or theme each year. Tell the we have won 2nd place once in 2017 and 3rd place three times in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and we want to win first prize this year in 2021! Show and send them links to our Multimedia, Art, & Digital Design website and Instagram pages so they can see for themselves the quality of awesome artwork and digital creativity we produce. I will provide you all with a sample email template you may use and customize for each person you contact:
